Message from Senior School Headmistress

At Roedean School (SA) we are acutely aware of the privilege it is to inspire and educate students. As we enter Roedean’s 119th year, we celebrate our heritage and our diversity, while our guiding values of Truth, Honour, Freedom and Courtesy remain our focus in decision-making. The Roedean tradition of excellence is important at Roedean as we seek to build on the established educational foundations while embracing future-thinking. Our academic results remain consistently outstanding, as our students are taught by dedicated staff who are experts in their fields.

School should be memorable and happy, and a time to develop essential 21st Century skills, so our students are encouraged to be involved in our extensive co-curricular programme. Every student can develop in their area of passion with a vast choice of cultural and sporting activities. Our students enjoy the opportunity for reciprocal learning through participation in our social responsibility programme, and we offer them the opportunity to enrol in the President’s Award. We encourage our students to embrace the prospect of new activities, to take on new challenges and to develop their perseverance.

Roedean School is a proud member of Round Square, an international organisation of more than 200 schools worldwide. This offers our students the chance to become engaged global citizens who can collaborate in world-class programmes.

The student and staff wellness programme provides the opportunity for all to take a break once a month during the school day and focus on their well-being. Our strong tutor system ensures that each student is seen and valued by those around them. With the introduction of Positive Education this year, we hope to promote flourishing mental health by building on our strengths and values.

By using the skills that the students learn in their Cognitive Education lessons, they are equipped to think independently, creatively, critically, reflectively, and ethically. This enables our students to achieve and to open the doors to tertiary education. Roedean students move on to top local and international tertiary institutions where they are most successful and inspire lives of significance.
